Why Fromme Juniors

Capable young riders deserve more than being placed in the youngest group.

They are ready for real trails and real coaching—without being mixed into a full-day programme built around older riders, bigger mileage and a different social pace.

The change you can see

With each ride, they look more at home on the trail.

Not because every root or corner suddenly feels easy. Because braking, body position and line choice are becoming decisions they can make for themselves.

01

They brake before the turn.

Speed control becomes a planned decision instead of a last-second reaction.

02

They see the line sooner.

Looking ahead replaces waiting for someone else to show every move.

03

They own the challenge.

They learn when to ride, retry, pause or choose another option.

Six sessions with momentum

Each ride builds on the last.

Coaching stays responsive to the riders in front of us. The exact trails and challenges may shift with the group, weather, closures and current conditions.

These coaching stages develop across six weekly sessions—not a fixed day-by-day itinerary. The pace follows the riders.

Stage 1Settle in. Show us how they ride.Bike check · Bobsled baseline

We begin with bike checks, names and an easy opening pedal. Familiar blue terrain gives coaches time to notice braking, cornering, gears, climbing pace and confidence without making the first session feel like a test.

Stage 2Make one useful change.Braking · Position · Corners

Drop-off moves to the north side of the Mount Fromme parking lot. Coaches introduce clear, age-appropriate cues, then give riders room to apply them on real trails. The focus stays on adjustments that make riding smoother and more controlled.

Stage 3Read roots, rocks and lines.Natural terrain · Better choices

The group works with changing surfaces and age-appropriate technical sections. Riders learn to look farther ahead, manage speed earlier and compare line options before choosing a challenge they can own.

Stage 4Put the skills into the ride.Longer sections · More flow

The riders link more sections and carry the same skills from one trail moment to the next. Coaches keep the pace lively, regroup often and increase challenge only when the group is showing control.

Stage 5Less prompting. More riding.Favourite laps · Proud finish

By the final session, coaches know the group and the riders know one another. The final session creates more room for uninterrupted riding, favourite sections and a finish that feels earned rather than forced.

Terrain follows readiness: Bobsled or similar blue terrain provides the starting point. Coaches adjust routes, features and pace to what the group can actually handle. No rider is required to attempt every feature.

How they are coached

Noticed. Encouraged. Still challenged.

The goal is not constant instruction. It is knowing when a young rider needs one useful cue, another try, a regroup or room to ride.

Noticed.
A small group lets the coach see individual braking, lines, energy and confidence.
Encouraged.
Riders can inspect, try, pause or take another option without being embarrassed.
Still challenged.
Real Mount Fromme terrain provides meaningful progression without chasing difficulty for its own sake.

Maximum five riders per coach · Every coach is first-aid trained and criminal-record checked

Is my child ready for Fromme Juniors?

They should already ride a trail such as Bobsled or comparable blue terrain in control, use their own brakes and gears, and follow group instructions.

Is this a beginner mountain bike camp?

It is built for younger trail riders, but not first-time cyclists. Riders need genuine blue-trail experience before camp. Trail Explorers is the better fit for independent riders who are still new to forest trails.

What if the group has different abilities?

Coaches adjust pace, route and challenge within the group. Every coach leads no more than five riders, and features are introduced with options rather than pressure.

Will my child be pushed onto a feature?

No. Riders can inspect, try, retry, pause or choose another line. Good trail judgement includes knowing when not to ride something.

Where are drop-off and pickup?

For weekend and school-break camps, the first session begins at Kilmer Park . For every session after the first, drop-off is on the north side of the Mount Fromme parking lot . Pickup is at Kilmer Park every session. After-school camps use the north side of the Mount Fromme parking lot for drop-off every session.

What does my child need to bring?

A well-fitting trail-ready mountain bike with gears and two working hand brakes, a certified helmet, weather-ready clothing, water and snacks.

Does camp run in the rain?

Yes. Camp runs rain or shine. Coaches adjust routes when trail, weather or air-quality conditions require it.

Who will coach my child?

Coaches are skilled mountain bikers trained in first aid and in teaching children at the right level. Every coach completes a criminal record check and leads no more than five riders.

What if we are unsure about the level?

Email us two or three trails your child rides now and anything they tend to avoid. We will give you an honest fit check before you choose your dates.

What is the cancellation policy?

More than 10 calendar days before camp, families may transfer to another available camp at no charge or receive a refund less a $35 administration fee. Cancellations received 10 calendar days or fewer before camp are not eligible for a refund, credit or transfer. The complete policy is shown before payment.
