Rider readiness

Which camp fits your rider?

Choose for the rider your child is today—not the trail they hope to ride by Friday. The best group gives them enough challenge to learn without making basic control the hardest part of the day.

Start with four non-negotiables.

Every camper must be able to ride independently. Before choosing either group, confirm that your child can:

  • Start and pedal without an adult holding the bike.
  • Steer around another rider or obstacle predictably.
  • Use front and rear hand brakes and stop on request.
  • Listen and wait safely when the group stops on trail.

Shore Bike Camps is not a learn-to-ride or training-wheel program. That boundary helps the coach keep the whole group safe and gives each rider useful trail time.

Trail Explorers: build confidence off-road.

Trail Explorers is the right starting point when a child rides independently but has limited mountain bike trail experience. Gravel and easier trail sections give the coach room to improve braking, gear choice and balance without technical terrain taking over the lesson. Coaches also introduce trail awareness and confident movement on the bike. It is a focused camp for ages 5–10.

Fromme Juniors: blue-trail mornings.

Fromme Juniors is for ages 6–10 who already ride Bobsled or similar blue terrain in control. Sessions focus on cornering, line choice and smoother riding while keeping the distance and duration suitable for younger riders.

Fromme Progression: more trail time.

Fromme Progression is the longer-session choice for confident blue-trail riders ages 9–13. Longer routes create more time to practise technical skills, line choice, endurance and control across varied terrain.

Queen Riders: progress together.

Queen Riders is a girls-only Fromme camp for ages 9–13. Riders must already be comfortable on blue terrain; supportive group coaching helps them develop technical skills and take on new challenges together.

What to tell us when you are unsure.

Email the names of two or three trails your child currently rides, what they avoid, how long they comfortably stay active and whether they use gears and both hand brakes without reminders. That is more useful than describing them as simply “beginner” or “intermediate.”
